Boxing gloves

Give your best with the right boxing glove

Boxing gloves are essential for anyone who wants to try their hand at this sport, whether you are an amateur or a professional athlete.

Boxing gloves are the most important part of your passion. The right choice allows you to train correctly, without causing damage or injuries to the hands, or to your training partners or to the coach during sparring or passes.

Measure and materials

Boxing gloves can be of different sizes, depending on the exercise you intend to do and the weight. The unit of measurement are ounces (oz). The main sizes are 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 or 18 oz.

For training it is recommended to use gloves of one ounce between 10oz and 18oz depending on the type of activity.

Once you understand what the glove will serve you and what kind of training it will support you, you can choose the size based on your weight. The right training bag for those weighing less than 45 kg is the 10oz one (8 oz for children), up to 65 kg the 12 oz one is recommended, from 65 to 78 kg the 14 oz one. Up to 90 kg you will have to opt for the 16 oz, while for the heavier weights the 18 oz. Obviously this is a tip for training correctly, for a long time and avoiding injuries. For those who want to work at speed in the bag or in the techniques it is recommended to use a 10 or 12 oz glove.

As for sparring it is recommended to use 14 or 16 oz gloves for those weighing less than 64 kg, 16 oz gloves for those weighing 64kg to 89kg and 18oz for heavier athletes.

Clearly in the case of very experienced boxers or those with a “heavy hand” it is advisable to use a glove of a larger size than the one indicated above.

The materials of boxing gloves are also very different from each other. Choose the perfect ones for you based on the type of training you intend to do and according to the goal you want to achieve.

Generally boxing gloves are made of leather or imitation leather.
The difference lies mainly in their resistance. Those in leather have greater durability, resisting better to the most violent impacts and impacts, are softer and act more delicately on the skin under great stress. The leatherette boxing glove turns out to be the best choice for those who are approaching this sport and want to become familiar with this discipline.

Types of closure

Boxing gloves have two types of closures: with laces and velcro ones. Technically, the gloves with laces are better and conform to competitive races. Their advantage? Ensure better grip! The glove tends to remain stable and tight and is capable of delivering more precise and powerful hits. If you are an amateur we recommend the velcro closure, more practical and suitable for solo training.

Choose the boxing glove that enhances your passion.
